Big Brothers Big Sisters and Joliet Township High School District 204 are seeking college-educated professionals to mentor high school students in an exciting and flexible Mentor2.0 program designed for busy professionals.
Mentor2.0 matches students from Joliet Central H.S. and Joliet West H.S. with college-educated mentors, and provides them with the support and guidance they need to graduate high school and succeed in college and the workforce
Using a college-readiness curriculum and Big Brothers Big Sisters’ staff support, mentors and students work together, online and in-person, to:
- Develop a strong personal relationship
- Nurture a college aspiration
- Navigate the college application process, and
- Build critical skills that lead to college success.
Mentors devote 5-6 hours/month to mentoring — just 1 email a week & 1 in-person meeting a month. Through these activities, mentors develop a supportive mentoring relationship that will last for 3 years and guide a mentee through the college-readiness curriculum and the college application process.
